Karl Maughan

• Karl Maughan is an New Zealand born artist , Karl Maughan was born in Wellington in 1964 Maughan went to Elam School of Fine Arts in 1983, graduating in 1986. In 1987 he decided to complete his master’s degree, Maughan has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts.

• His works include his fascination with gardens and landscapes. His internationally & nationally recognised for landscapes as subject material, and subsequently his exploration of light, colour and texture. 

• I like how the details are simplified and their colours exaggerated

Jim Dine

• Jim Dine is an American painter, graphic artist, sculptor, and poet. He was (born June 16, 1935) in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dine attended Walnut Hills High School, the University of Cincinnati, and received a BFA from Ohio University in 1957. 

• His themes include those of Modern art, Neo-Dada & also Plants Works as shown below. Some aspects I appreciate, are the combinations of colours Dine uses in his Neo-Dada works & how they fuse well, Personally I think colours & textures can be easily overlooked. But Dine seems to appreciate the details & importance of colour.
